From paper to textile
GOYET is the new creative venture of Alexia de Ville de Goyet, founder of the wallpaper brand Tenue de Ville. After more than ten years dedicated to developing her wallpaper brand, the Belgian designer is returning to her early artistic practices by exploring weaving as a field of experimentation where gesture and material once again take center stage.

Woven on a Jacquard loom and then enhanced by hand, these wall hangings play with texture, raised patterns and contrasts in material. Aimed at both interior designers and collectors, these tapestries are conceived as textile works capable of inhabiting a space as much as decorating it. Crafted from hemp, linen, paper yarns, recycled cotton and reused wallpaper offcuts, the compositions combine minimalist forms, large blocks of colour and motifs inspired by both classical painting and modern art.
Some works also engage with ceramic elements, further exploring this theme of materiality and traditional craftsmanship.
This approach forms part of a research project that is both aesthetic and environmental, based on the reuse of materials and local production. Each tapestry emerges from a balance between traditional techniques, textile experimentation and a contemporary perspective, affirming a vision in which the artwork, the decorative object and interior architecture come together naturally.

Alexia de Ville de Goyet an artist based in Brussels, has been developing the Tenue de Ville wallpaper brand since 2014. In 2019, an eco-conscious approach led her to view her wallpaper offcuts not as waste, but as a resource and a starting point for new artistic explorations.
This approach led her to learn and reclaim traditional craft skills such as weaving, natural dyeing and ceramics. Textiles now play a central role in her work. She works with reused strips of wallpaper, hemp, linen, recycled cotton and paper yarns to create tapestries that blend traditional craft techniques with contemporary weaving technologies.
